The Plan
The roadmap
Small wins now. Big plans on a schedule.
The Ashburn Comeback Plan isn’t one big promise. It’s 65 commitments in four stages, and each stage has dates you can check.
The first 90 days: find out and fix cheap. Count what we have, publish what we find, and do every small, visible thing that doesn’t need a budget line. Within 30 days, you’ll know where the city’s audits stand. Within 60 days, there’s a plain guide to who does what. After every council meeting, you get a recap of how I voted and why. 12 commitments.
The first year: build what the counting earned. This is where lists turn into funded work. A plain breakdown of what’s driving your water bill. A map of every spot that floods, and city ditches on a cleaning schedule. A written maintenance standard for our parks. Grants either land or they don’t, and I’ll tell you which. 30 commitments.
Years 2 through 4: the rest of the term. The work that needs a budget cycle behind it, and the programs that only run once the foundation exists. The youth resource center on a set weekly schedule. A paid summer work crew. A published repair schedule for our streets. 21 commitments.
Years 5 and beyond: the long haul. Some of this takes longer than one term, on purpose. Bringing downtown back, with a funded facade or lighting program underway by year five. Rehabilitating our parks one at a time. 2 commitments.
A town that plans in four-year pieces gets four-year results, and then starts over. This plan doesn’t stop at four years.
How you’ll know it’s working. Every three months, a scorecard shows where each stage stands: done, moving, or stuck, and why. And when the plan changes, the change is dated and explained on the plan changes page.
