Sec. 14-94Reporting of suspected rabies cases by owners
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter covers keeping animals in town: loose dogs and livestock, rabies shots and tags, reporting bites, cruelty and neglect, impoundment at the city's designated shelter, and the rules for dogs classified as dangerous or vicious. A word of caution: a lot of it is printed twice (rules from 2001 and again from 2011), and two different sets of dangerous-dog rules are still on the books, so it's worth asking the city which version they enforce.
Whenever the owner or person having custody or possession of any animal shall observe or learn that such animal has shown symptoms of rabies or has acted in a manner which would lead to a reasonable suspicion that it might have rabies, such owner or person shall immediately notify the city and shall allow the animal control officer and/or a representative of the Turner County Health Department to make an inspection or examination of such animal until it shall be established that such animal does or does not have rabies.
