Sec. 14-131Designation of a dog control officer
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter covers keeping animals in town: loose dogs and livestock, rabies shots and tags, reporting bites, cruelty and neglect, impoundment at the city's designated shelter, and the rules for dogs classified as dangerous or vicious. A word of caution: a lot of it is printed twice (rules from 2001 and again from 2011), and two different sets of dangerous-dog rules are still on the books, so it's worth asking the city which version they enforce.
The Animal Control Officer of Turner County, Georgia shall also be designated as the "dog control officer" for purposes of division 7 of the animal control . It shall be the dog control officer's duty to investigate and classify as appropriate suspected dangerous or potentially dangerous dogs. It shall be the dog control officer's duty to investigate and classify when any report of an occurrence involving a dog that is kept or housed or lives permanently within the corporate limits of the City of Ashburn which warrants or may warrant classification as a dangerous or potentially dangerous dog is received whether that incident is alleged to have taken place within the corporate limits, within Turner County, or in some other jurisdiction.
