James Burgess for Ashburn City Council

Sec. 18-64Cost of numbers responsibility of property owners; height, material of numbers

Last changed 1994
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This chapter says which state construction codes the city enforces (building, plumbing, electrical, fire and so on), requires every house and building to display its assigned street number, and sets water-saving limits for toilets, faucets and shower heads. It's short, and the list of code editions hasn't been updated since 2009.

The cost of numbers shall be borne by the property owner. The number shall be not less than three inches in height and shall be made of a durable and clearly visible material.

History: (Ord. No. 94-02, § I, 5-5-1994)

This is a plain-English guide, not legal advice. The official code is on Municode and at City Hall. Our copy is from April 30, 2026.
