Sec. 22-39Filing returns; other information required or requested
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This is the chapter for anyone running a business in town: the yearly occupation tax (the city's business license), plus special rules for pawn shops, phone companies, arcades and coin-operated machines, fireworks stands, food trucks, and permits for special events on city property like festivals, parades and big cookouts in the park. Several parts are fairly recent (2015-2025), but some, like the pawnshop rules, are older and still describe paper record books.
(a) On or before March 1 of each year, an individual, business, or practitioner subject to this article shall file with the city manager, on a form approved by and available from the city, a signed return attesting to the number of employees of such business or practitioner during the calendar year.
(b) Individuals, businesses, and practitioners doing business in the city shall submit to the city manager or make available to the city such information as may be required or requested by the city to determine the applicability and amount of the or to facilitate levying or collection of the occupation tax.
