Plain English: what this chapter covers
These are the rules for city-owned cemeteries: how graves and vaults must be set, what kind of headstones and monuments are allowed, what you can and can't plant or put on a lot, and who can do monument work. A cemetery lot is set at $125. Most of the rules go back to the 1983 city code.
(a) Should any monument, mausoleum, tomb or memorial become unsightly, dilapidated, or a menace to visitors, the city shall have the right at the expense of the lot owner either to correct the condition or to remove the monument, mausoleum, tomb or memorial.
(b) If any inscription is placed in or upon any monument, mausoleum, tomb or memorial, or upon anything which shall be determined by the city authorities to be offensive or improper, they shall have the right to enter upon such lot and remove the offensive or improper object.
