Sec. 2-50Penalty and member rights
Plain English: what this chapter covers
Chapter 2 covers how city government runs: when the council meets and how residents can speak, the ethics code and how to file a complaint, rules for city employees (including drug testing and the city minimum wage), budgeting and purchasing limits, city credit cards, the Community Relations Commission, and how the city protects utility customers' personal information.
(a) Any member of the governing authority who knowingly violates any provision of the code of ethics provided in this division shall be subject to public reprimand or censure by the governing authority of the city.
(b) At any hearing held by the board of ethics, the member of the governing authority who is the subject of inquiry shall have the right to written notice of the allegations at least ten business days before a hearing, to be represented by legal counsel, to hear and examine the evidence and witnesses, and to present evidence and witnesses in opposition or in extenuation.
