James Burgess for Ashburn City Council

Sec. 34-77[Duties.]

Last changed 2003
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This chapter lays out how Ashburn's municipal court runs: when it meets, how tickets and summonses get served, what happens if you miss court, and how bonds work. It also sets up the court-appointed defense lawyer and city prosecutor positions, and the extra charges added on top of fines. If you ever get a city citation, this is the chapter that explains the process.

It shall be the duty of indigent defense counsel to attend each session of the at which there will be arraignments and/or trials of cases involving the violation of city and/or state laws, and to represent and defend the accused person in all cases and/or arraignments where appointed and directed by the court to do so.
