Sec. 34-1Sessions
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter lays out how Ashburn's municipal court runs: when it meets, how tickets and summonses get served, what happens if you miss court, and how bonds work. It also sets up the court-appointed defense lawyer and city prosecutor positions, and the extra charges added on top of fines. If you ever get a city citation, this is the chapter that explains the process.
A regular session of the shall be held each month in sufficient frequency to meet the needs of the city. Each session shall be held at a fixed hour of a fixed day as may be determined by the municipal court judge, provided any session may be dispensed with when there is no business pending in the court or no cases are ready for trial.
