Sec. 38-61Correction of violation by city at expense of property owners—Generally
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This is the chapter for overgrown lots, junk cars, run-down houses and condemned buildings. It sets minimum standards for homes and rentals, like working plumbing, heat and hot water, and lays out how the city can take an owner to court, clean up or tear down a property, and put a lien on it. It also covers erosion control for land clearing and construction, protection zones around the city's water wells, and outdoor watering days.
In the event the owner and/or parties in interest fail to comply with an order to vacate and close and/or repair or demolish the dwelling, building, or structure and/or clean the premises, or remedy any other condition found to exist in violation of this article or any other relevant of the city, any further proceedings against the interested parties and/or the property shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of section 38-62 et seq., as herein amended. In addition thereto, the department may, in addition to other remedies, issue a citation for violating any requirements or provisions of this article.
