Sec. 38-201Short title and purpose

Last changed 2004
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This is the chapter for overgrown lots, junk cars, run-down houses and condemned buildings. It sets minimum standards for homes and rentals, like working plumbing, heat and hot water, and lays out how the city can take an owner to court, clean up or tear down a property, and put a lien on it. It also covers erosion control for land clearing and construction, protection zones around the city's water wells, and outdoor watering days.

(a) This article shall be known as the "Wellhead Protection Ordinance."

(b) The purpose of this article is to insure the provisions of a safe and sanitary drinking water supply for the city by establishment of wellhead protection zones surrounding the wellheads for all wells or springs which are the supply sources for the city water system and by the designation and regulation of property uses and conditions which may be maintained within such zones.
