Sec. 6-69Application fee
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This is the rulebook for selling, serving and drinking alcohol in Ashburn. It covers who can get a beer, wine or liquor license and how the city council grants, renews, suspends or takes one away; what hours stores and bars can sell; rules for events, BYOB ('brown bagging') and catering; the city's alcohol excise taxes; and a ban on drinking or open containers on city streets and property.
(a) The application for an alcoholic beverage license shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the city or cash in an amount as set forth in the schedule of fees and charges of file in the office of the city clerk as an application fee to cover the cost of processing the application and conducting necessary investigations, which fee shall be nonrefundable upon denial of the application and shall not apply toward any licensee fee or excise tax payable by the licensee if the application is granted.
(b) In addition to the license fees required by this chapter, there shall be an additional fee of $100.00 for on-premises consumption of malt beverages and/or wine; and an additional fee of $1,000.00 for on-premises consumption of distilled spirits.
