Sec. 6-188Renewal of license
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This is the rulebook for selling, serving and drinking alcohol in Ashburn. It covers who can get a beer, wine or liquor license and how the city council grants, renews, suspends or takes one away; what hours stores and bars can sell; rules for events, BYOB ('brown bagging') and catering; the city's alcohol excise taxes; and a ban on drinking or open containers on city streets and property.
Each licensee shall make application in a manner prescribed by the city clerk prior to January 1 of each year. Each application shall be approved by the city council no later than the first regularly scheduled meeting in January. No new applicant for a brown bagging license may allow brown bagging on the premises to be licensed without approval by the council. Applicants for renewal may continue the sale of alcohol beverages until the license application is denied by the mayor and council.
