James Burgess for Ashburn City Council

Sec. 78-156[Proceeds to fund necessary costs.]

Last changed 2006
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This chapter covers city property taxes: billing, due dates, interest, penalties, and what happens if they go unpaid, up to a tax sale. It also covers taxes on insurers, banks and hotel rooms, the monthly E-911 charge, and the 2022 Blighted Property Ordinance, which raises taxes on officially blighted, non-owner-occupied property and gives a tax break once it's fixed.

The proceeds from the special assessments described in the preceding sections shall be used for the purpose of defraying the cost of providing E-911/dispatch services within the district, including the acquisition, maintenance, operation, and replacement of facilities, and other necessary costs of operating an E-911/dispatch service.
