Sec. 80-33Delegation
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter sets the rules for companies that want to run cable TV or telephone/telecom lines along Ashburn's streets and rights-of-way. It covers how a company applies for a franchise, what the city looks at before saying yes, and the fees involved. It also sets the 5% franchise fee the city collects from cable and video companies that hold a Georgia state franchise. Most of it matters to companies, not households, but it shapes who can offer service in town.
Consistent with specific law, the city council shall have the right to delegate and redelegate, and to revoke any such delegation or redelegation, from time to time, any of its rights or obligations under this article to any body, organization, or official. Any such delegation, redelegation, or revocation, no matter how often made, shall not be deemed an amendment to this article or to require the consent of any applicant for a or grantee. The city council may also establish and appoint one or more advisory boards, with such duration and such number of members as the city council shall determine, to advise it on such of the matters which are the subject of this article.
