Sec. 10-35Occupation tax certificate required

Unchanged since the 2007 code
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This chapter covers two kinds of businesses. Article II regulates adult entertainment businesses (strip clubs, adult bookstores and theaters, and similar) — where they can locate, their hours, permits for owners and workers, and a ban on alcohol. Article III sets licensing and operating rules for pool rooms, game rooms, billiard halls and internet cafes, including hours, rules for minors, and a ban on gambling.

It is unlawful for any person, association, partnership, or corporation to engage in, conduct, or carry on, in, or upon any premises within the city any of the adult entertainment establishments, defined in this chapter, without an certificate so to do. No occupation tax certificate so issued shall condone or make legal any activity thereunder if the same is deemed illegal or unlawful under the laws of the State of Georgia or the United States.

State Law reference— Local authority to impose occupational tax, § 48-13-6.

This is a plain-English guide, not legal advice. The official code is on Municode and at City Hall. Our copy is from April 30, 2026.
