Sec. 22-71Registration of establishments
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This is the chapter for anyone running a business in town: the yearly occupation tax (the city's business license), plus special rules for pawn shops, phone companies, arcades and coin-operated machines, fireworks stands, food trucks, and permits for special events on city property like festivals, parades and big cookouts in the park. Several parts are fairly recent (2015-2025), but some, like the pawnshop rules, are older and still describe paper record books.
All establishments shall be registered with the Chief of Police of the City of Ashburn, which registration shall include the names and addresses of all persons having a financial interest in the operation of the establishment, and all persons in charge thereof, and such other relevant information as the chief of police shall reasonably require.
At the time of registration the applicant or applicants shall exhibit to the chief of police all licenses and permits required by § 48-17-1 et seq. No establishment shall be permitted to operate in the city unless it and all of its machines are licensed and permitted in compliance with the provisions of that section.
