Sec. 34-54Entry of judgment against delinquent principal and sureties
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter lays out how Ashburn's municipal court runs: when it meets, how tickets and summonses get served, what happens if you miss court, and how bonds work. It also sets up the court-appointed defense lawyer and city prosecutor positions, and the extra charges added on top of fines. If you ever get a city citation, this is the chapter that explains the process.
If no sufficient cause is shown to the contrary, the judge of the shall proceed to enter up judgment against the principal and sureties for the amount of such bond and costs, and the city clerk shall issue execution for the amount of the judgment and costs, which execution shall bear teste in the name of the judge, and place the same in the hands of the chief of police who shall proceed to collect the same by levy and sale.
