James Burgess for Ashburn City Council

Sec. 38-35Violations

Last changed 2004
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This is the chapter for overgrown lots, junk cars, run-down houses and condemned buildings. It sets minimum standards for homes and rentals, like working plumbing, heat and hot water, and lays out how the city can take an owner to court, clean up or tear down a property, and put a lien on it. It also covers erosion control for land clearing and construction, protection zones around the city's water wells, and outdoor watering days.

A person who violates a provision of this article or fails to comply with this article is guilty of an offense punishable as provided in the City Charter. The owner of a building, structure, or premises, where anything in violation of this article shall be placed or shall exist, and all persons who may have caused or assisted in causing the commission of such violation, shall each be guilty of a separate offense.
