Sec. 62-104Special regulations concerning fireworks

Last changed 2017

Needs a look

Residents are confused about when fireworks are legal. An ordinance stricter than state law allows could be unenforceable. See the fix

Plain English: what this chapter covers

This is the city's general 'don't do it' chapter. It covers firing guns, loitering, noise, fireworks, juvenile and park curfews, disorderly conduct, littering, false burglar alarms and abandoned shopping carts. Most violations go to Ashburn Municipal Court.

(a) All state laws and regulations, including but not limited to § 25-10-1 et al, shall be obeyed and shall be made a part hereof.

(b) In order to ignite, shoot off, or use consumer fireworks as defined in § 25-10-1(a)(1) in the City of Ashburn at any time other than those times specifically listed in the laws of the State of Georgia, the requesting person or party must apply for and obtain written permission from the Ashburn Chief of Police. The Ashburn Chief of Police may only grant permission to ignite, shoot off, or use consumer fireworks between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. except as stated in the laws of the State of Georgia.
