James Burgess for Ashburn City Council

Sec. 62-179[Intoxication not justification for other crimes.]

Unchanged since the 2007 code
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This is the city's general 'don't do it' chapter. It covers firing guns, loitering, noise, fireworks, juvenile and park curfews, disorderly conduct, littering, false burglar alarms and abandoned shopping carts. Most violations go to Ashburn Municipal Court.

Nothing in this article shall be deemed to excuse or justify any other crime simply because the perpetrator is intoxicated. Nothing in this article shall repeal, annul, or otherwise affect any law, , resolution, or rule against drunken driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, or other similar offense involving the operation of a vehicle, aircraft, boat, machinery, or other equipment, or regarding the sale, purchase, dispensing, possessing, or use of alcoholic beverages at stated times and places or by a particular class of persons or any other criminal act.

This is a plain-English guide, not legal advice. The official code is on Municode and at City Hall. Our copy is from April 30, 2026.
