James Burgess for Ashburn City Council

Sec. 78-151[Special district created.]

Last changed 2006
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This chapter covers city property taxes: billing, due dates, interest, penalties, and what happens if they go unpaid, up to a tax sale. It also covers taxes on insurers, banks and hotel rooms, the monthly E-911 charge, and the 2022 Blighted Property Ordinance, which raises taxes on officially blighted, non-owner-occupied property and gives a tax break once it's fixed.

There is hereby created in and for the City of Ashburn a special district composed of the entire corporate limits of the City of Ashburn for the purpose of providing E-911 services within such special district and for the purpose of levying a special assessment to defray the cost of implementing, operating, and maintaining such service.
