Sec. 78-152[Assessment levied.]
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter covers city property taxes: billing, due dates, interest, penalties, and what happens if they go unpaid, up to a tax sale. It also covers taxes on insurers, banks and hotel rooms, the monthly E-911 charge, and the 2022 Blighted Property Ordinance, which raises taxes on officially blighted, non-owner-occupied property and gives a tax break once it's fixed.
There is hereby levied a special assessment of $1.50 per month on each dwelling unit within the district and the contents therein, levied and assessed against the owners and the occupants thereof, and against the real property and the contents therein, and $1.50 per month on each business unit within the district and on the contents therein, levied and assessed against the owners and the occupants thereof, and against the real property and the contents therein, and $1.50 per month on each non-residential mobile home, levied against owners and occupants thereof and the property and its contents.
