ARTICLE II. WELLHEAD PROTECTION

Unchanged since the 2007 code
Plain English: what this chapter covers

This chapter does two things. It adopts the state health rules for restaurants, motels, septic systems, drinking water and public pools by reference. It also sets up a 1,500-foot protection zone around each city water well, where things that could pollute the water, like septic tanks, fuel tanks and landfills, aren't allowed.

Editor's note— The initial wellhead protection survey conducted to determine existing conditions within the 1500-foot zone of the Pate Street water well, the Manhatten water well, the City Barn water well and the North Ashburn water well is on file in the office of the city clerk.

State Law reference— Water resources, § 12-5-1 et seq.; waterwell standards, O.C.G.A. § 12-5-120 et seq.
