Sec. 54-87Submission of plans for HPC
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This chapter creates the Ashburn Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and the Ashburn Local Historic District. If your property is a designated historic property or sits in the district, you need a 'certificate of appropriateness' from the HPC before making exterior changes, demolishing or moving a building. Ordinary repairs, interior work and paint colors don't need one.
An application for a certificate of appropriateness shall be accompanied by such drawings, photographs, plans, or other documentation as outlined on the certificate of appropriateness application, which may change from time to time. Additional information pertaining to the certificate of appropriateness application may be requested by staff or the HPC. Applications involving demolition or relocation shall be accompanied by post-demolition or relocation plans and/or intentions for the site.
