Sec. 42-64Fees and charges
Plain English: what this chapter covers
This short chapter sets up the fire department and spells out Ashburn's burning rules. You need a free permit from Ashburn Fire and Emergency Services to burn natural vegetation, the burn has to be well away from houses and streets, and you can never burn trash, tires, plastics or building materials.
(a) A burn permit will be issued at no charge.
(b) If the burn permit recipient desires or the Ashburn Fire Chief deems it necessary for the Ashburn Fire and Emergency Services to be present during burning times, the burn permit recipient will be charged a standby fee of $50.00 per hour.
(c) A suppression fee of $500.00 will be charged for unauthorized burning.
